“Still training hard in Australia" (21/2/2010)

I’ve been out on the Gold Coast now for 5 weeks, training hard and getting ready for the 2010 race season. The training has gone up another level out here and I am loving every minute of it!

This week I had my best track session since I’ve been out here - so I am getting fitter, which is always a good feeling to hear Michelle shouting out slightly quicker times than the week before.

Something has clicked into place on my run so I am walking around with a slightly bigger smile on my face than before, although the smile hasn’t really gone from my face since I’ve been out here!!

One of my favourite sessions at the minute are the long runs in the lake lands where Michelle always push’s the pace - which I love! It makes a long run go so much faster when you run with Michelle. I still can’t believe I’m running with the athlete I looked up to growing up. Watching her win at Salford, as I stood on the bridge with a good friend Krystal Hoath. She came over having been such a long way back from the swim and just never gave up and ended up winning in!

This IS WHAT MAKES HER A GREAT COACH and so inspirational to work with. It’s what made her win the 220 ‘Coach of the Year’ and I am so proud to call her my coach

Just want to say congratulations to her for winning the 220 ‘Coach of the Year’ - she deserves it!

Between training sessions I am watching the Winter Olympics, and there was a story of an Australian athlete who had been training to get to the Olympics all her life. When she got there she told her family that they couldn’t go and watch - as it would make her too nervous. She only went and won the Gold medal!!!

But as she stood up to take her Gold medal and watch the Australian flag being raised to her National anthem - she looked into the crowd and saw her family!! They had taken no notice of her request and made the journey over there and thank god they did, to watch their girl win gold!

WHAT A STORY . .. .you don’t need to know much more to get you driven for the next session!

Hope the snow goes away quickly for you guys back in the UK and you are able to get out and train.

All the best
